Brutal Backfire: Bold & Beautiful’s Set the Stage For Steffy and Carter’s Lie to Be Exposed By the Last Character You’d Expect

In Tuesday’s Bold & Beautiful (recapped here), Finn stopped huffing and puffing at Steffy over her announcement that she’d become Carter and Daphne’s surrogate while he was away long enough to fill in his mother, Li. Which sounds innocuous enough on the surface, right? Half the time on this show, all characters do is walk around telling each other what just happened. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll see that Steffy and Carter’s downfall has just been set up.

Not *All* Their Tracks Are Covered

For the moment, the onetime lovers think that their plan is foolproof. But now that two doctors are discussing it, it’s only a matter of time before Finn or Li discovers that Steffy never underwent an implantation procedure. In fact, by week’s end, the mother/son team are playing detective and investigating Steffy’s pregnancy.

The Mother of All Dilemmas

If Li figures out what’s going on first, that will leave her in a terrible position. To keep her son from being hurt by the shock that his wife is having another man’s baby, would she further the lie that Carter and Steffy are telling?

Or, would Li see this twist as a way to finally get Finn away from Steffy? You’ll recall, when he “died,” Li didn’t tell his wife or anyone that she was secretly caring for him. When asked how she could do something so cold, Li told Steffy that her son had had a bright future. “And then he met you.
