Prince Harry made his first public appearance since moving back to the U.K. hours after Kate Middleton, Prince William and King Charles all stepped out in Scotland.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, visited the Isle of Bute on Thursday, Sept. 17, to highlight the power of community, connection and volunteering. While there, they visited their namesake town of Rothesay, a meaningful location as the couple holds the Scottish titles of Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
The outing also included visits to a local pub, a beach clean-up event and a shinty club, where William and Kate tried their hands at the popular Highlands team sport, which is similar to field hockey.

The King was also in Scotland on Thursday, attending an event at Dumfries House, where he gave a speech on the merits of artificial intelligence, warning that, as massive technological strides are being made in the field, “our humanity must remain sacred.”
“The decisions taken at this formative time will shape the world inherited by future generations,” he said. “And so, the task before you is not merely to advance technology, but to ensure that it remains firmly in the service of humanity, community and the natural world. As we embrace what is new, we must not lose what is timeless. “
The King continued, “I can only applaud those of you who are so deeply committed to harnessing Artificial Intelligence for good, so that we might see a future where human potential remains boundless, whilst technological development is carefully curated to enhance our success.”
Meanwhile on the same day, Prince Harry was nearly 500 miles away, attending his first official engagement since returning to the U.K. last month.
The Duke of Sussex, 42, attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards in London on Thursday evening. His wife, Meghan Markle, 45, did not join him at the event.

Harry and Meghan have kept a low profile since arriving back in the U.K. on Aug. 26, just one week after it was revealed that they would be returning to Britain for an extended period after living in California since 2020. Their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will be attending school in the U.K. for the first time and started classes this month.
An insider tells PEOPLE that the Duchess of Sussex didn’t attend the Invictus event as she is focusing on settling their kids in.
William and Harry have been estranged for years, and royal experts have told PEOPLE that’s unlikely to change despite being back in closer proximity.
“It is keep calm and carry on,” royal author Simon Vigar says, explaining that William and Kate are relying on an age-old royal philosophy when it comes to Harry and Meghan. “They see it as a sideshow and ancient history.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales have kept things focused on their family and their royal work. In addition to their visit to Scotland, so far this month they have accompanied Prince George as he began his studies at Eton College and stepped out for multiple royal engagements, including a joint appearance in support of one of William’s mental health initiatives on World Suicide Prevention Day.
“They are shining a light on things that are important to them,” says Ailsa Anderson, the late Queen Elizabeth’s press secretary in this week’s PEOPLE cover story. “What they don’t want is all this other noise becoming a distraction.”
PEOPLE understands that King Charles and Harry have spoken at least once since the Sussexes’ arrival back in Britain, but they have not seen each other. William and Harry, meanwhile, remain estranged.
“William’s view is clear — any relationship his father has with Harry or the Sussexes as a family is entirely up to him,” says Russell Myers, author of William and Catherine. “But looking toward the future, he will have no relationship with them, in a working or private capacity whatsoever.”
“It will be incredibly draining,” adds royal historian Amanda Foreman. “They will always have to look over their shoulders and factor them in. And all they can do is deflect. Yet, they’ll get lots of jabs and questions: ‘When are you going to make up with your brother?’ ”
