Jeremy Clarkson has returned to screens in a new series of ITV’s Millionaire Hot Seat, months after he revealed he was officially in remission after sharing his cancer diagnosis.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 66, opened up about his health in the recent series of the Amazon Prime Video show, saying that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. He told his co-stars Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper: “I’ve got cancer,” adding that it had been caught at a “really early” stage.

Jeremy later spoke about his diagnosis and shared from his hospital bed how treatment had gone “awry”, before adding: “I’m going to be here for a little while. I don’t know what’s going to happen, What I wanted to say was if this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six. And if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone.”

However, he later confirmed that he was in remission after tests showed that he had no indication of cancer, telling The Sunday Times: “It was an aggressive type of cancer. It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble.

“This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked. It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer.

“I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line. I’ve seen so many people die of cancer. It doesn’t bear thinking about what it must be like to live knowing that an illness is going to kill you.”

Jeremy has now returned to screens with a new series of his ITV quiz show, a spin-off to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? This comes after the Amazon Prime Video team announced series six of Clarkson’s Farm is underway, and due to land on screens next year.

Millionaire Hot Seat, which first aired in January this year, has returned for a second season. Following the Australian series, the twist on the classic format sees six contestants in a rotating “hot seat”, who must climb a money ladder by answering questions correctly.

The news of its return was announced earlier this year, as commissioner Katie Rawcliffe said in a statement: “The Millionaire brand continues to deliver for ITV audiences and Millionaire Hot Seat has brought an exciting new energy to the format.

“The combination of Jeremy Clarkson’s hosting and the high-pressure gameplay has proved a winning formula, so we’re delighted to be bringing both Millionaire Hot Seat and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? back for more episodes.”

As the programme returned, Jeremy opened the show by thanking the live audience. He said: “Hello and welcome to Millionaire Hot Seat. Lots of new rules in this new show but we’ll pick them up as we go along.”

Millionaire Hot Seat is available to watch on ITVX.
