Days of Our Lives Fans Have One Big Question After Mason’s Run-In

Mason’s surprising encounter with Philip has Days of Our Lives fans wondering if Salem’s newest newcomer could have a very familiar connection.

Days of Our Lives may be setting the stage for yet another jaw-dropping family twist. We were just hit with the shocker that Marlena is Dominic Marino’s mother (though we still have plenty of questions about that!), but are we about to learn that Philip is the father of Salem’s mysterious newcomer, Mason Whitfield?
Is Mason Really Philip’s Son?
Whenever a newcomer arrives in Salem without family ties, it almost always signals a classic paternity or legacy family reveal on the horizon. Right now, Days viewers have a strong hunch that Mason could be Tyler Kiriakis, the biological son Philip had with Mimi Lockhart before giving him up for adoption back in 2007.
The seeds for this theory were planted earlier this year when Philip brought up his long-buried son out of nowhere. In soap logic, when that happens, that child is almost guaranteed to walk into town shortly after.
What Happened with Mason and Philip on Days of Our Lives?
The clues started dropping today! Let’s talk about what went down. During the episode, Mason stopped by the gym to sign up. Initially, Tate didn’t realize Mason was the same guy Holly had been complaining about. But when Mason handed over his driver’s license, Tate recognized the name and brought up Holly.
Moments later, when Holly walked in, Mason assumed thought it would be best for him to leave. However, Holly suggested she go, and he stay. After all, she was on her way to do Leo’s podcast, Stark Raving Mad.
Left alone, Tate demanded to know why Mason had such a chip on his shoulder regarding his girlfriend. Mason opened up, revealing that back when he worked the hotline, a struggling Sophia Choi called frequently to talk about Holly. Plagued by guilt over Sophia’s tragic death, Mason admitted he felt like he had failed her when she needed help the most—a grief he had unfairly projected onto Holly.
While that emotional confession explained Mason’s past behavior, it was his next encounter that really set off alarm bells for viewers.
Later outside the Pub, Philip crossed paths with Mason in the square. Philip immediately noticed Mason’s Marines T-shirt, and the two struck up an instant rapport—a natural connection given Philip’s own military history.
With the timeline lining up and an instant connection already forming between the two, could Mason really be Philip’s long-lost son, Tyler? We’ll have to keep watching to see if Salem is about to get another Kiriakis heir!
