Jeremy Clarkson Is A Grandfather Again: Daughter Emily Welcomes Second Baby After “The Hardest Thing” She’s Ever Been Through

Jeremy Clarkson has a new title to add to farmer, pub landlord, and TV presenter: grandfather, for the second time. His eldest daughter, podcaster Emily Clarkson, has welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Xanthe Fiadh Andrew, with her husband Alex Andrew.

Emily shared the joyful news on Instagram with a tender photo of herself cradling her newborn from a hospital bed, writing simply that Xanthe had arrived and brought the sunshine with her. The name carries real meaning too: Xanthe comes from the Greek word for “bright,” while Fiadh, an Irish name, translates roughly to “wild” or “untamed,” a fitting pair of meanings for a baby whose arrival followed such a difficult road.
Because behind the joy of the announcement lies a genuinely tough pregnancy journey that Emily has been remarkably open about with her followers. She revealed she had been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe and prolonged form of pregnancy sickness, the same condition that famously affected Catherine, Princess of Wales, during her own pregnancies. Emily described the experience bluntly, saying it was the hardest thing she’d ever been through, made even harder the second time around by the guilt of not being as present as she wanted to be for her first daughter while carrying her second.

The physical toll was severe. By 16 weeks into the pregnancy, Emily said she weighed less than she had before conceiving, had needed hospital treatment for dehydration, and found herself physically unable to tolerate even the smell of certain everyday things, right down to her own daughter’s hair. The relentless vomiting also led to thoracic outlet syndrome, a complication that compressed nerves and arteries in her neck and left her arms numb. She’s said the ordeal brought on genuine prenatal depression, and that sharing her experience so openly was partly about helping other women who might be going through the same thing feel less alone.

Emily and Alex are already parents to their first daughter, Arlo Rose, born in February 2023, making this Jeremy and ex-wife Frances Cain’s second grandchild together. The happy news brought a wave of warm messages from friends and familiar faces, including former Made in Chelsea star Ashley James, who sent her congratulations to the growing family.
It’s worth noting that Jeremy himself has, notably, not publicly commented on the birth of his second grandchild, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed given his sometimes strained public relationship with Emily following his controversial 2022 column about Meghan Markle, which Emily publicly and firmly distanced herself from at the time, saying clearly that she stood against everything her father had written.

Whatever the state of that particular family dynamic, the arrival of baby Xanthe is, first and foremost, a genuinely happy moment, a healthy baby, a proud mum who fought through an extraordinarily difficult nine months, and a family that, whatever its complications, continues to grow.
