Clarkson’s Farm enthusiasts are keen to discover whether the Top Gear presenter’s Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton continues to welcome visitors.
Most crucially, is the restaurant established in a disused lambing barn still operating?
The laborious journey of launching the restaurant was chronicled in the second series of the hugely popular Prime Video programme and involved months of preparation, construction, and frustrating red tape with the local authority.
It eventually opened its doors in July 2022 with a triumphant, albeit somewhat chaotic, launch event, but was notably prohibited from serving alcohol and remained under scrutiny from West Oxfordshire District Council.
Four years later, can visitors to Diddly Squat still anticipate being served a home-produced meal?, reports Wales Online.

No, the Diddly Squat Farm restaurant was regrettably shut permanently in January 2023, operating for merely seven months before being closed down by the council.
The restaurant’s closure featured in the opening instalment of Clarkson’s Farm series three.
West Oxfordshire District Council issued an enforcement notice at the time, declaring: “The unlawful use of Diddly Squat Farm by reason of its nature, scale and siting is unsustainable and incompatible with its open countryside location.”
Jeremy submitted an appeal and a hearing took place, but this proved unsuccessful. The council referenced complaints from local residents about excessive traffic disturbing the countryside in their determination to shut the restaurant down. Authorities did, however, give the Top Gear star the green light to expand the farm’s car park, available for guests visiting the farm shop.
For those keen to support Jeremy’s venture, fans are advised to head to The Farmer’s Dog pub, a 25-minute drive from the farm in Burford, which remains open as of June 2026.
This quintessentially British pub takes pride in serving locally sourced meat and produce, alongside Jeremy’s very own beer brand, Hawkstone.

The Farmer’s Dog also boasts outdoor seating areas, including The Farmer’s Puppy, which offers al fresco burgers, lamb sandwiches, and breakfast baps, as well as The Farmer’s Dough, a pizza van.
Visitors can also drop into the Big View Café located on the farm itself, which welcomes walk-ins and serves breakfast baps and burgers, along with Hawkstone beer.
