The Old Top Gear Crew Just Had A Reunion — And It Reveals Something Genuinely Touching About Jeremy Clarkson

While fans have spent the past two years focused on the very public, headline-grabbing dynamics between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, a much quieter, arguably more telling reunion has been happening behind the scenes, and it’s one that says a great deal about Clarkson’s actual loyalty to the people who’ve worked alongside him for decades.

The story comes courtesy of Andy Wilman, the longtime Top Gear and Grand Tour producer widely regarded as Clarkson’s closest friend and most consistent creative collaborator throughout his entire television career. Speaking on the Cars and Money podcast, Wilman revealed that his own 60th birthday celebration had turned into an unexpected, genuinely emotional gathering of old faces from across the entire Top Gear era.

Wilman described getting to see Clarkson at the party, along with what he called “a whole lot of us” getting together, old faces, old crews, all in the same room again. It’s a genuinely small, unglamorous detail compared to the usual headline-grabbing Clarkson stories, but it carries real weight for anyone who’s followed the show’s long, occasionally turbulent history.

What makes Wilman’s comments particularly interesting, though, is a detail he shared almost in passing: a significant number of former Top Gear crew members are, right now, still working on Clarkson’s Farm. It’s a genuinely meaningful piece of continuity that rarely gets discussed publicly, the same camera operators, producers, and behind-the-scenes staff who helped build Top Gear into a global phenomenon have simply followed Clarkson through every subsequent chapter of his career, from the BBC, to Amazon’s Grand Tour, to his current life as, in his own words, a “genuine reality television” farmer.
