In tonight’s CIA episode, Colin had some questions for Nikki. Ones he couldn’t ask at the office. He wanted to ask her if she was serious about putting Toni back into the field. He hasn’t contacted his old girlfriend since she returned to Langley for deprogramming yet he knew her. He knew she couldn’t be trusted.

He knew she’d turn against her team for convenience’s sake. Colin didn’t want her back and unfortunately the decision wasn’t up to him. It was up to Nikki. Nikki felt that Toni has a skillset that couldn’t be denied. She wanted to work with her again because she knew she’d be an asset in the field. It doesn’t mean she hadn’t heard Colin’s true concerns.

Nikki would go on to allow Toni back at the office. She also made sure that Toni would be starting from the bottom. She was handling low-level cases as she proves herself again.

Meaning no perks this time. Toni hated it. Nikki knew it was necessary. They also caught a suspicious death. There was an inventory supervisor at a chemical company who died from suspicious chemical burns. It was believed to be an accident. The CIA had to double-check it because of access to a chemical company was considered national security.

They would later learn that the victim was not Dan Kelly. His real name was Kamal al-Tuinsi. He was a Syrian bomb maker that works for the Convenient. They were a splinter group that was against peace or reconciliation with the West. The victim probably killed the real Dan to replace him at the company.

The same one that carries all the chemicals needed for a chemical weapon. Kamal was a bombmaker after all. It’s how he made his money with other splinter groups. Nikki also informed her team that she had heard intel coming from Syria earlier that day. She dismissed it.

Everyone did. They thought the intel was the same old. The difference now was a dead Syrian who died in a chemical attack. He was either used an example to see if things work or he really did die accidentally.

The reason Nikki had been so quick to dismiss the intel was because it came from an agent that now works from home. Her name is Annie. Annie used to work at her office until something happened. She became afraid of the outside world. She secluded herself in her apartment. And so Colin had to go to her with Bill at his side.

Bill recognized the symptoms affecting Annie upon their first meeting. He had seen it in returning soldiers. She was suffering from PTSD. She was closing herself off as a means of protecting herself from what she saw. She was a CIA Officer. She saw something that made her go home one day and never leave. She tried asking security questions at her door. She thought she was verifying they were officers. Bill pointed out that it was an unsecure channel in her apartment building. He refused to spill state secrets in her hallway.

Only then did she allow them in. They had to stay within the blue lines on the floor of her apartment. Annie said NYC was filthy. She didn’t want them carrying out whatever was on the ground into her place. She also explained the intel she found. She said she decoded a message that indicated the people who sent it were responsible for several bombings around the world. She couldn’t decode when the next attack would happen. This in connection with a dead bombmaker feared that it was New York that was the target.

Annie hadn’t been able to decode the full message. It was hidden in plain sight. It was on radio over the shortwaves. The reason why Annie couldn’t decode the next attack was because she didn’t get the full message. Some guy in a hobby store did. Nikki and Gina visited his place. They had him play the message for him. He was so happy to show off to two beautiful woman he didn’t realize that he left himself vulnerable to terrorists. The man was later found dead because they didn’t know he was vulnerable.

He did help them out in a big way. They figured out the attack was on the Babbish Convention Center. There was a secret meeting on Syria in the Helix room. It matched with what Annie decoded. She also left herself vulnerable. The terrorists came to her apartment. They tried to kill her. Colin and Bill helped to save her. Annie still had to take one of the biggest risks she could. She had to leave her apartment. She was eventually able to do so. It saved her life. They took down the men targeting her. The rest of the team stopped the attack.

It was a good day’s work. The saddest part was what Annie told them. She said her condition didn’t happen suddenly. It grew over time. She stopped taking foreign posts, then flying, and then just leaving altogether. Annie was happy to return to her apartment afterwards. Colin even was a little envious. Until he returned to his apartment to find Toni. Toni didn’t need much to convince him into restarting things. Bill had a tougher time with Katie. He told her that he was in the CIA. He told her that he wasn’t asked to lie to her. It was a decision completely up to him.

Katie was so angry that she needed to give their relationship space. It translated into space away from him.
